A check before the walls go up

I join a project as one more pair of eyes on the floor plan. Layout, orientation and proportion change in a day on paper, and not at all on site.

Who I work with

  • Architects and architectural practices, at the floor plan and concept stage.
  • Interior designers, on layout, materials and colour.
  • Studios that carry a project from the start through to furnishing.
  • Developers and clients who want a second opinion before the work begins.

How I join in

  1. The floor plan

    I start with the plan and the orientation: where the entrance, the sleeping, the kitchen and the workplaces are, and which of those can still move.

  2. The layout

    I suggest an arrangement of rooms and furniture based on orientation and on the paths through the space, and we see what fits the project.

  3. Materials and colour

    When materials and colours are chosen I look at shape, surface and light, and write the reasoning behind every suggestion.

  4. Documentation

    It all stays in writing, in language you can pass on to the client without translating it.
